Thames Water has today announced it has drawn down the remaining available sum of the first £1.5 billion tranche of emergency funding under the restructuring plan proposed by the company in connection with implementing the liquidity extension transaction sanctioned by the High Court on 18 February 2025.

Correspondence released by the House of Commons Environment Food and Rural Affairs Committee yesterday evening has raised even more questions for the Chair and CEO of Thames Water to answer about the water company’s financial affairs – and the Committee has now further extended its questions about their recent evidence to Environment Secretary Steve Reed and Ofwat Chief Executive David Black.

The Government has confirmed that paying bonuses in the form of retention payments to senior executives are not an an option for Thames Water, following comments by water company Chair Sir Adrian Montague when he appeared before the House of Commons Select Committee for Environment Food and Rural Affairs (EFRA) last week.

Thames Water has announced this morning that it has secured the backing of creditors who hold in excess of 75% of the water company’s Class A Debt – the creditors have entered into the Transaction Support Agreement (TSA).
