FLOOD FORECASTING CENTRE EA  MET OFFICE PARTNERSHIP LOGO 2The latest National Flood Risk Assessment (NaFRA) shows that about 4.6 million properties are now at risk, a 43% rise since the last assessment - the Flood Forecasting Centre has referred to the significantly increased risk as part of making its case for further investment in surface water flood modelling tools.

Yorkshire water cammonden reservoir low levelsThe National Drought Group met yesterday to discuss measures to address the ongoing water shortfall as England enters its fourth heatwave of the summer, with temperatures set to reach 34C in some areas. Commenting on the situation, Helen Wakeham, chair of the Group and Director of Water at the Environment Agency (EA) said:

"The current situation is nationally significant and we are calling on everyone to play their part and help reduce the pressure on our water environment.”
