gas lightbulbNine firms are seeking permission from the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) to appeal against Ofgem’s price controls for energy companies.

Ofwat has said that it is unlikely to be appropriate to either remove price protection or to move to a “reasonable and non-discriminatory” approach for small and medium enterprises at this stage in the development of the retail market sector.

A review commissioned by Ofwat to help it understand whether sludge and water resource cost and revenue data is robust and comparable with the advent of possible competition in upstream services has flagged up inconsistencies and variations in data provided by the 10 water and sewerage companies.
