The European Commission is taking Denmark to Court for a failure to present plans for managing its river basins.

The Coalition for Access to Justice for the Environment (CAJE) has welcomed the judgment of the European Court on the UK’s non-compliance with EU law on costs in environmental legal proceedings, after a ten year battle by legal campaigners.

PriceWaterhouseCoopers, Ofwat’s delivery partner for the current PR14 Price Review, has published a paper setting out its views on appropriate PR14 household and non-household retail net margins.

Water industry regulator Ofwat has spent a total of £324,621.20 on external consultancy fees with PriceWaterhouseCoopers during in the first month of 2014.

Ofwat has opened a consultation on a draft determination of a bulk pricing dispute which could have important implications for the opening of the non-household sector to retail competition in 2017.

Ofwat says no deductions for Thames Water

Water industry regulator Ofwat has announced that it will not pursue a re-opening of Thames Water’s price limits for 2014-15 using the ‘substantial favourable effect’ mechanism   – which could have resulted in deductions in the company's prices for customers.

 The Welsh Assembly has launched a new consultation on proposals to designate 2 further sites in Wales as bathing waters under the Bathing Water Directive.

Water industry regulator Ofwat has warned that current Government proposals on the future management and transfer of private water supply pipes could result in an increase in customer water bills.

Ofwat’s charging working group, set up in January 2014 as part of the regulator’s work on the 2014 price review and in response to the Water Bill, met for the first time last week.

Tenbury Wells based food manufacturer Kerry Ingredients (UK) Limited has been fined £12,000 for making illegal discharges into Severn Trent Water’s sewer network. The company has also been ordered to pay costs of over £30,000.
