Scottish Enterprise, the body tasked with identifying and exploiting opportunities for Scotland's economic growth, is targeting the UK and overseas markets for water and waste water innovation services and products.

Engineering consultancy Frazer-Nash has won a commission to help support the Marine Farm Accelerator (MFA) − an Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult programme which is being delivered in collaboration with the Carbon Trust.

Filling the demand for new engineering jobs will generate an additional £27 billion per year for the UK economy from 2022, according to new research published today.

West Somerset Tidal Lagoon planLongbay Seapower has notified the Planning Inspectorate of its intention to submit a planning application to construct a 21km tidal lagoon covering 72 square kilometres off the coast of West Somerset in the Bristol Channel in 2018.

Perpetuus Tidal Energy Centre (PTEC) has submitted a consent application for a tidal farm to the south of the Isle of Wight.

Innovate UK, the UK Government’s innovation agency, is to invest the funding to explore new ways of increasing collaboration and improving the flow of information in the construction industry supply chain.

WRc has been working together with IBM and Yorkshire Water on a proof of concept project to demonstrate the power of IBM’s cloud-based Intelligent Operations Centre (IOC) data analytics and visualisation platform.

New tidal lagoon project planned at Cardiff

The Planning Inspectorate has been notified that the developers of the Tidal Lagoon Swansea project intend to make a new application for a new tidal lagoon at Cardiff.

The European Commission says wave and tidal energy are set to join wind and solar power as staples in the renewable energies electricity mix – and a major EU-funded project looks set to accelerate progress.

A pilot project by Scottish Water to test a new recycling technology for waste water for the first time in the UK has been completed at Dunbar and Aviemore Waste Water Treatment Works with promising results.
