Technology Strategy Board appoints new chair for new Knowledge Transfer Network Ltd.
David Lockwood, chief executive of Laird plc, has been appointed as non-executive chair of Knowledge Transfer Network Ltd, the new body the Technology Strategy Board is setting up to continue and invigorate the work of the Knowledge Transfer Networks (KTNs) from 1 April.
The KTNs are one of the Technology Strategy Board's key tools for helping the UK's innovation communities to connect with each other, collaborate, and find out about new opportunities in key research and technology sectors.
The TSB said KTN Ltd will bring the previously separate KTN communities together under one umbrella, to enable greater opportunities for collaboration, provide even more invigorating networking opportunities and make cross-cutting activity across disciplines easier.
The new KTN organisation will continue to support business innovation, bringing together UK innovators from across business and academia to collaborate, share knowledge and ideas, and develop business partnerships that drive economic growth.
Commenting on David Lockwood's appointment, the Technology Strategy Board's CEO, Iain Gray, said:
"His experience with innovation-focused businesses will prove invaluable in improving and expanding both the network and collaboration between cutting-edge businesses. David joins us at a pivotal time in the development of the KTN, as it transitions to a more fluid structure."
