Severn Trent has gone out to tender with a multi-Lot AMP8 contract for legal services worth an estimated £30 million. 

Water UK, the organisation which represents all the UK water companies, has called on both Government and water sector regulators to overhaul the existing arrangements for surface water management and address significant issues with regard to funding future investment.

Affinity Water has appointed five law firms to its new Legal Panel to work with the company on a range of important issues in a heavily regulated sector facing a number of challenges including climate change and the increasing pressure on water resources.

The Irish Parliament has voted by 96 votes to 48 this week for water services in Ireland to be publicly funded and the Government to be collectively responsible for the protection, management and maintenance of the public water system.

South West Water has been fined £150K for sewage pollution by Truro Crown Court and described by the Judge as “guilty of negligence.”

The Scottish Government has said that Scottish Water will be kept in public ownership and rejected calls for privatisation.
