The Environment Agency has called for the upcoming AMP6 price review round for water company business plans to include better interconnectivity between the utilities.

Europe urged to improve water efficiency

Europe needs to redouble efforts in using water more efficiently to avoid undermining its economy, according to a new report from the European Environment Agency (EEA).

 

Former Russian President Mikhail Gorbachev has called for urgent action on the global water crisis at the opening of the World Water Forum in Marseilles.

The water companies have described current UK water use as unsustainable in the face of ongoing drought conditions.

The latest economic report from the Association for Consultancy and Engineering (ACE) shows that infrastructure is bucking the trend as challenging market conditions within the construction sector continue.

 

A coalition of charities has set out ‘red lines’ for the Government’s controversial reform of the planning system, the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) The charities say that “George Osborne’s countryside-wrecking plans for growth at any cost must be stopped.”

GlencorseScottish Water’s new state of the art £130 million Glencorse Water Treatment Works supplying 450,000 customers across Edinburgh and Midlothian went into service today.

New thermal water source for Bath

Engineers have completed work to drill a borehole in Bath to provide the city with a new supply of thermal water.

 

The Environment Agency has agreed a Drought Permit to help refill Bewl Water reservoir following the driest twelve months for 36 years.

The Infrastructure Planning Commission has accepted for examination an application from Able Humber Ports Ltd for proposed port facilities located at Killingholme, Humberside.
