Restoring Confidence in NI Water

A conference will be held in Northern Ireland next month to consider the lessons learned and the way forward from the unprecedented 2010 Freeze/Thaw incident that dominated national news for days over the Christmas period and led to the resignation of the Northern Ireland Water Chief Executive Officer.

Water bills will be cut for the most vulnerable households under plans announced by Environment Secretary Caroline Spelman today with the launch of a new consultation on water affordability.

Water industry regulator Ofwat has published its forward work programme for 2011-12 to 2013-14 – with important implications for the water and sewerage sectors.

The first round of United Nations (UN) climate change negotiations since the Cancun summit in December, being held in Bangkok from April 3-8, will start on the work plan agreed at Cancun for 2011.

VWS Westgarth, a subsidiary of Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies (VWS), has been awarded a multi-million dollar contract by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co. (DSME) for the design, supply and delivery of an Ultrafiltration system and a Sulphate Removal Package (SRP) system.

Thames Water has published a report on its four month phase one public consultation on the proposed Thames Tunnel.
