South West Water to dye-test sewers in Salcombe

South West Water will be putting a harmless green fluorescent dye into sewers in Salcombe on Friday to help identify defects and plan improvements to the town's sewerage service.

The dye testing will take place during the night and early hours of Friday to fit in with tide times, subject to weather conditions.

South West Water staff and contractors will be observing the sewerage network from about 5.30am. If dye escapes from the network they will be able to pinpoint any sections of pipe that require further investigation and repair.

The local Environment Agency has been briefed and is supportive of the testing - the dye will disperse naturally and is not harmful to the environment.
