RoSPA:Northumbrian Water is UK’s top water firm for health and safety

Northumbrian Water Group has been named as the UK’s number one water company for health and safety.

ROSPA winners HSEQ-2 - canThe company was presented with a silver salver for winning the Water Industry Sector 2015 at the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Awards for Health and Safety.

The Water Industry Sector award is given to water companies who are able to demonstrate a robust and high quality safety management system, together with a minimum of four years' consistently excellent or continuously improving health and safety performance.

This is the fourth consecutive Health and Safety Award from RoSPA awarded to Northumbrian Water Group, building upon its previous success of RoSPA Gold Awards in 2012 and 2014, and its Commendation Award for Excellence in Health and Safety in 2014.

Kimberley Smith, Health, Safety, Environment and Quality Manager at Northumbrian Water Group, said:

“We take health and safety very seriously and to be awarded the Water Industry Sector Award this year is great recognition of all the hard work and commitment to health and safety by our health and safety representatives, managers and employees.

“The awards from RoSPA are an excellent measure of continuing improvements in our health and safety culture and I am very proud of this fantastic achievement.”

The RoSPA awards scheme is the largest and longest running programme of its kind in the UK, recognising commitment to accident and ill health prevention and is open to businesses and organisations from across the UK and overseas.
