Scottish firm Cobalt Water Ltd has been granted a water and sewerage supply licence by Ofwat enabling it to operate in the non-household retail market which opens for business in April next year.
Cobalt will integrate retail operations in the English and Welsh water markets into its current operations as a Licensed Provider of Scottish Water.
The Ayrshire-based company began trading in July 2013 in Scotland as a licensed water provider in the Scottish water market, where it offers business customers bespoke tariffs with flexible contract terms of between 12-60 months.
Cobalt now has over 2000 customers across Scotland, including Holiday Inn Express and Age Scotland.
In its application to the water industry regulator for a licence in May this year, Cobalt Water said:
“By maintaining our current high levels of customer service, operational expertise and financially prudent business model, we will trade successfully in these new markets.”
