Teams at Essex & Suffolk Water have taken on urgent installation of two new water mains this week to help support NHS teams in the fight against coronavirus.
The first of the new water mains is based in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham, through development company, BeFirst. The development company are working with Essex & Suffolk Water alongside their contractors to get 93 temporary housing units ready for the Local NHS Trust for use during the Covid-19 outbreak.
The team are currently installing the mains to the first phase of thie development ready for Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust units to offer temporary housing for NHS staff in the area, or as a secondary treatment unit to support the local hospitals.
The second urgent water mains installation scheme Essex & Suffolk Water is supporting are distribution and logistics company, Ziegler at the London Gateway port in Stanford-le-Hope. Ziegler have over 100 staff that are key workers supporting the Nightingale and other hospitals across the region through the Coronavirus, providing vital supplies of PPE equipment.
