The investment work will help increase the sewer network capacity and help protect the local environment for years to come.

The upgrade, which is being carried out by contractors Morgan Sindall, is on track to be completed by the end of September 2021.

The work, which got underway last summer, involves replacing, cleaning and relining sections of the wastewater pipe between Hailey Park and Tongwynlais. To date the company has already replaced and relined more than 700 meters of sewer pipes and cleaned a further 550 meters. It is anticipated that work will be completed by the end of September 2021.

The water company is separately getting ready to begin construction work at Llandegfedd Reservoir which plays an important role in supplying over 600,000 people in Cardiff, Newport, parts of Monmouth and surrounding areas with a reliable supply of safe, clean drinking water every day.

The maintenance work, which is set to begin on Monday 2nd August, will be carried out to the piers that support the reservoir’s footbridge and leads to the tower. The features play an essential role in the day-to-day operation of the reservoir which holds over 5.3 million gallons of water.
