Uisce Éireann continues investment in further water supply upgrades for Clonmel Town

Uisce Éireann is set to begin further upgrade works as part of ongoing investment in the Clonmel’s water infrastructure, which will improve water quality and resilience across the water network.

The upgrades, which will see over 1.4km of aged water mains in the town being replaced with new pipes, is being carried out as part of Uisce Éireann’s National Leakage Reduction Programme. The works will improve water quality, while providing a more secure and reliable supply, with reduced leaks in the area.

Speaking about the upgrades, Programme Manager at Uisce Éireann, Dave Murphy commented on the benefits:

“As well as an improvement in the quality of water coming from their taps, customers can look forward to a more reliable supply and fewer operational issues such as bursts and leaks on the network.

“These works will also help us to drive down levels of leakage on the network and to conserve our precious water resources.”

Work on the project, which is being carried out on behalf of Uisce Éireann by Shareridge Ltd, is starting this week.

The works are in addition to Uisce Éireann’s ongoing committed investment to improve Clonmel’s water supply with other projects underway at water treatment plants to improve the security and resilience of the town’s water supply into the future.

In August the Clonmel water supply upgrade project has reached another significant milestone, with two thirds of the planned 15km of new water main laid.

Uisce Éireann is investing heavily in drinking water infrastructure across Tipperary, with multiple projects underway and planned across the county this year. In addition to the Clonmel water supply upgrade project, upgrades are also underway at Goatenbridge, Glenary and Glenbeha Water Treatment Plants.
