Welsh Water out to tender with £170M civil engineering contract

Dwr Cymru Cyfyngedig Welsh Water (DCC) has gone out to tender with a major civil engineering works framework £170M contract.

Contractors are being invited to bid for work to design and build water and wastewater infrastructure – with a maximum of 18 contractors envisaged on the four year framework, with an option to extend for a further two years. Individual work packages procured through this framework will generally be valued at £250,000-plus.

The work will include working with DCC and its main partners to deliver capital maintenance activity; general civil engineering activity; sewer rehabilitation and gravity pipeline work; Traffic Management Act submissions and design services across water and waste water assets.

Welsh Water intends to establish frameworks within three predetermined geographical areas for the provision of major civil engineering works on its water and wastewater assets including production, distribution and network assets.

Area 1 covers North Wales, in the counties of Conway, Denbighshire, Flintshire Gwynedd, Isle of Anglesey, North Powys and Wrexham.Area 2 South covers East Wales in the counties of Blaenau Gwent, Bridgend, Caerphilly, Cardiff, Merthyr Tydfil, Monmouthshire, Newport, Rhondda Cynon Taff, South Powys, Torfaen, the Vale of Glamorgan and parts of Hereford. Area 3 South West Wales covers Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Neath Port Talbot, Pembrokeshire and Swansea.

Up to six contractors will be appointed for each area to work either directly to DCC or DCC capital partners. Following appointment to the frameworks selected contractors will be required to participate in separate mini competitions for work packages. Time limit for receipt of requests for documents or for accessing documents is 9th February, with a time limit for receipt of tenders or requests to participate of 16th February.
