Speedy Hire Plc, the UK's leading tools, equipment, plant hire and services company, has announced that it has completed the strengthening of its senior executive management team with a number of appointments to key roles over the past months.

Adrian Murphy has been appointed Chief Operating Officer UK, with responsibility for UK operations along with leading regional and specialist solution sales. Prior to joining Speedy, he worked for United Technologies Corporation, firstly as MD for Chubb Fire and Security Systems, and later as Commercial Director UK, Ireland and Benelux for the Building Industrial Systems division.

Tony Bennett has been appointed Corporate Development Officer, with responsibility for strategy, planning, corporate activity, corporate communications and social responsibility.

Steve Giblin has been appointed Group Health, Safety, Security, Environment, and Quality Director. Speedy said Mr. Giblin will continue to improve systems, practices and processes to ensure the safety and security of Speedy's people and customers, whilst driving the environmental agenda. Prior to joining Speedy, he was Global Head of EHS at Scapa PLC. He has also held roles at United Utilities and British Gas Centrica.

Ed Cowell has joined Speedy in the role of Head of Major Accounts, overseeing sales to some of Speedy's largest national customers, many of whom utilise a broad range of products and solutions across diverse sectors. He joins Speedy from G4S, where he has held a number of senior roles, including International Account Director and most recently as Global Sales Director for the risk management business.

Mark Rogerson, Chief Executive Officer of Speedy, commented:

"We are delighted to welcome Adrian, Tony, Steve and Ed at an exciting time for Speedy. The broad experience they bring from both inside and outside our industry, combined with new internal appointments to the senior leadership team, gives us the right blend of skills to accelerate the implementation of our growth strategy. I am very much looking forward to working with the new team to build on Speedy's position as the market leader in our industry, and to deliver sustainable growth and shareholder value over the coming months and years."

Speedy is continuing to pursue its strategy of growth through focusing on core hire, specialist solutions and complementary services across strategic, major and regional customer groups.
