South West Water has reduced storm overflow spills at one of its highest spilling sites in Cornwall after recent improvements in the area.
Severn Trent has announced that it has completed 1,500 engineering projects ahead of schedule and has now unveiled further plans to fast-track the delivery of another 600 improvement projects to reduce the use of storm overflows.
Southern Water has optimised its Swalecliffe Wastewater Treatment Works to increase available storage, reducing storm overflows by 36%. The optimisation cost around 90% less than building a new storm tank and was much less carbon intensive.
