Severn Trent Water has sent its waste water team to a local ‘sewer blockage hotspot’ in Bentilee, Staffordshire, to identify any potential sewer issues and to talk to customers to gain a better understanding of how to prevent it.

After three years of generating electricity from sewage treatment Northumbrian Water is also using it to create gas for the national grid.

Staff from Wessex Water’s engineering and construction department have been awarded two United Kingdom Society for Trenchless Technology awards for two separate initiatives. 

Shrewsbury Hydro Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a full licence to abstract water from the River Severn at Castlefields Weir, Shrewsbury.

Southern Water has reported a fifteen-fold improvement in its performance to prevent sewer flooding incidents in the past year.

Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water has won an international award for best supporting water utility company for their work in innovation.

Northumbrian Water’s Crookhall wastewater treatment works at Consett in County Durham is set to benefit from a £2 million pound upgrade.

Wessex Water will shortly start work on two studies to monitor watercourses in the Dorset area. The work is being carried out to understand the effect of current abstraction and how this may change following the construction of a new water supply grid.  

Scottish Water International has completed a major assignment in the Western Canadian City of Calgary.

Following the acquisition of Bournemouth Water by Pennon Group plc, the Competition and Markets Authority has consented to the provision of general corporate and group services by Pennon for the Bournemouth Water business.
