In a strategic move which further strengthens its position in the UK water sector, Ham Baker Group has acquired leading scraper manufacturer A& J Water for an undisclosed fee.

The Utility Regulator has today published its price control determination for Northern Ireland Water for the period 2015-21 (PC15). 

Thames Water has been ordered to pay more than £361,000 in fines and costs after a worker was killed by a reversing excavator at a treatment works in Walthamstow.

Birmingham based H and P Polishing UK Limited has been fined £6,000 for making illegal discharges into Severn Trent Water’s sewer network.  The company has also been ordered to pay costs of nearly £4,000.

Thames Water has rejected the suggestion in an article published in The Guardian last week that questioned whether the Tideway Tunnel is unnecessary.

UV disinfection specialist Hanovia has won the 2014 ‘Great British Product’ award at this year’s British Business Awards in Beijing, China for its PharmaLine and PureLine range of UV disinfection systems.

Interserve, the international support services and construction group, has acquired the Employment & Skills Group (esg), a UK-based provider of vocational training, skills and employability services, from Ares Capital for £25 million.

Balfour Beatty  has rejected the bid by John Laing Infrastructure Fund Ltd to acquire its entire PPP portfolio for approximately £1 billion.

United Utilities is running a pilot scheme to find out how it can get more use out of its land by generating renewable energy from energy crops.

In a further blow for the Scottish wave industry, the Board of wave energy company Aquamarine Power, which is headquartered in Edinburgh, has announced plans to downsize its business.
