South West Water has gone out to tender with a contract to construct a wind turbine to provide power to one of its water treatment works.
The scheme will deliver a single 225-250kW wind turbine and associated infrastructure on land west of Stithians in Cornwall providing power by a private cable to a nearby water treatment works (WTW).
It is expected that the turbine will produce around 700,000-800,000kWh per annum, accounting for approximately 40 % of the site's energy usage. This scheme will contribute towards SWW's aim to have 20 % of their energy coming from renewable energy sources by 2020.
The site is not eligible for export so all power must be used at the WTW.
The purpose of this PIN Notice is a call for competition to ascertain which suppliers exist for the delivery of a wind turbine and are interested in this procurement.
Time limit for receipt of expressions of interest is 1st December 2017 – click here to access the tender documentation.
