United Utilities has gone out to tender with a framework contract for network redesign worth an estimated £17 million.
The water company is embarking on a key strategic initiative to simplify and transform its data centre and campus LANs at initially four primary locations, with the potential to transform firewalls, load balancers and LANs /Wi-Fi, services at non-campus locations at other sites during United Utilities next capital funding cycle post 2020.
The aim of the transformed networks is to re-architect data centre and campus LAN environment to an optimised, scalable and future proof infrastructure, taking advantage of best in class solutions to support the utility’s needs of the private cloud environment.
The redesign will also seek to rationalise the volume of physical ports and optimise existing network segregation, whilst enabling traffic segmentation for support of virtual workloads and enhance network access control capabilities.
The initial framework agreement, which is being tendered in Lots, is for 4 years, with a further four years’ of annual extension options.
Time limit for receipt of tenders or requests to participate is 4th April 2018 – click here to access the tender documentation.
