Portsmouth Water has awarded a contract for project management services on its flagship £106 million Havant Thicket reservoir worth an estimated £3.9 million.
The water company is undertaking a major programme of works to construct the reservoir, water distribution services and accompanying social and environmental benefit facilities.
The 10-year programme is currently in the exploratory/preparation phase.
The contract has been awarded to Agilia Infrastructure Partners – founded in 2015, CEO and co-owner Amar Qureshi was Commercial Director of the Thames Tideway Tunnel during its critical years of development. A numer of Agilia’s senior management team and advisers were also previously involved in the Tideway Tunnel, including Michael Gerrard, former Managing Director at Tideway.
Services Agilia will provide under the contract include:
- programme direction and co-ordination
- programme management office services
- procurement
- project management to manage workstreams
- some projects within the programme.
The contract will also cover co-ordination of the activities of a range of Portsmouth Water internal and other external agencies who will form part of the wider programme team.
Over time, Portsmouth Water intends to develop its own in-house capability to contribute to the delivery of the programme – Agilia’s contract terms include the facility for the water company to replace contracted resources with in-house resources.
Agilia’s contract could run for up to eleven and a half years in total, including an extension option.
In April last year Portsmouth Water awarded the Principal Designer contract, worth up to £14 million in total, to Atkins Ltd. In October it subsequently awarded three further design services contracts to AECOM, Atkins Ltd and Stantec Ltd
