Kier hasd been appointed to Lots 1 and 2 of the Framework - a further 5 Lots will be appointed at a later date.

The latest appointment underpins Kier’s ongoing partnership with the water company - Kier has worked together with Thames Water on the AMP6 Infrastructure Alliance and the upgrade to Deephams Sewage Treatment Works.

Commenting on the contract wins, Barry McNicholas, group managing director for Kier Utilities & Rail, said:

“We are delighted to continue our successful partnership with Thames Water following our appointment to its AMP7 Capital Programmes Framework.

“Over the last five years, we have delivered a first-class service to Thames Water and the communities it serves. Working collaboratively with our Infrastructure team, over the next five years, we look forward to utilising our skills and experience to deliver vital infrastructure both above and below ground.”

Mark Pengelly, group managing director for Kier Infrastructure, added:

“We are pleased to have been appointed to the Thames Water AMP7 Capital Programmes Framework. AMP7 includes a number of complex projects and significant programmes, of which both our Utilities and Infrastructure teams have the combined capabilities to provide the highest levels of project delivery over the next five years. We look forward to delivering new projects through this framework and enhancing the infrastructure for the communities Thames Water serves.”

Barhale secures Thames Water AMP7 appointments

Civil engineering and infrastructure specialist Barhale has continued to affirm its water industry credentials by securing its place on Thames Water’s new AMP7 framework.

Barhale has also been appointed to Lots 1 and 2, covering the entire Thames Water region.

Under Lot 1, Barhale is appointed to the Non-Infrastructure framework with emphasis on capital maintenance and enhancement across many of Thames’ own operational sites, and under Lot 2, to the Infrastructure framework, which includes new installations and capital maintenance of existing key assets.

Lots 1 and 2 will be the principal delivery route for the AMP7 Year 1 capital programme.

The contract win adds to Barhale’s strong showing in the AMP7 round – the firm has already successfully extended both of its Anglian Water Alliance Frameworks (IOS – Integrated Operational Solutions Alliance and @one Alliance delivering capital projects) and independently and in joint venture with Doosan, secured new frameworks with both Severn Trent and Yorkshire Water.

Phil Cull, Southern Region Director at Barhale says that the appointments build on the deep understanding and strong relationships developed with Thames since 1985, throughout the AMP cycles and, while outside the scope of this contract, on Thames Tideway, the utility’s flagship wastewater project through London.

“We have a lot of experience working with Thames Water and have a good understanding not only of the demands placed on the network but also of the operational challenges faced when working in the UK’s most densely populated area,” he said. “We are pleased to be building on that experience with the appointments to the AMP7 framework and look forward to continuing to work with the Thames team over the coming years.”

For Andy Flowerday, Executive Director at Barhale, the awards underline the strength of the company’s reputation for delivery across the sector.

“The appointment to AMP7 is really important for us,” he said. “We already enjoy an excellent working relationship with Thames Water, which I’m looking forward to building on. They have a genuinely exciting forward investment programme, in which we will play an important role as they transform their business to deliver best value, long term resilience and enhanced levels of customer service, benefiting not only direct customers, but also the environment and the wider community, both for now and for the future’’.

“It also puts a spotlight on the success we have had across AMP7. Strategically, building on our reputation in the water industry is a key driver. This is proof positive that we are fulfilling that aim.”
