Severn Trent Water and sister company Hafren Dyfrdwy Cyfyngedig have gone out to tender with an AMP7 contract for Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) worth an estimated £6 million.

The water companies are looking to appoint a supplier of Granular Activated Carbon who can meet the following requirements:
- all of their current prerequisites on quality & standards for both virgin and reactivated media
- service provision for both partial and full removal of old media
- reactivation/regeneration of Carbon via furnace burn off
- top up of reactivated carbon via virgin media
- storage of STW/HD reactivated carbon (where applicable) and re-delivery to sites across the regions covered by STW/HD
All materials and products must comply with Regulation 31 of the Water Supply (Water Quality) Regulations 2016.
Initial contract term is four years, with three further 1 year extension options.
