Southern Water is seeking expressions of interest from suppliers for upcoming AMP8 contracts for water and wastewater networks services worth an estimated £900 million.

The water company is now looking to secure a range of supply chain partners for the delivery of its AMP8 capital programme 2025-2030. The new arrangements will also offer the option of running for the AMP9 2030-2035 investment programme.
Southern Water’s existing frameworks used for engineering, design and construction services have been in place for almost 10 years and expire on 31st March 2025.
The utility is working up its plans for PR24 in parallel to its procurement process – including working with its regulators and stakeholders to confirm the investment that will be available, and the capital delivery projects that will need to be undertaken.
According to Southern Water the PR24 process will benefit from having the AMP8 supply chain in place to assist with ongoing planning and transition to AMP8.
The water company is looking to appoint network services providers to assist in the maintenance and management of its clean and wastewater networks, including:
- Reactive operate, repair and maintenance services (including reinstatements)
- Planned preventative and inspection services
- Planned new services/connections for Water Supply & Distribution Network
The contract will be tendered in three separate Lots:

A collaborative framework for the following six service lines:
1. Operate & Maintain
2. Dig & Rehab
3. Lining
4. Aids to Navigation
5. Environmental investigation, impact assessment and response
6. Telemetry and smart devices
Suppliers appointed to the framework will be required to support Southern Water’s digitized smart network – the company has over 23,000 sensors installed in its sewer network, plus nearly 1,000 Duration Monitors.
The lotting structure for the Wastewater Network Services will be finalised following further market engagement. The utility said it will shortly be engaging with all interested parties to seek the market’s inputs to assist in developing the appropriate lotting structure.
