NI Water has gone out to tender with a contract for sludge management services worth an estimated £41,353,000 in total.

The contract covers the provision of the following services:
- collection, transportation, disposal and discharge of liquid sludge - transportation and discharge of liquid sludge from its wastewater treatment works (WwTWs) to Sludge Dewatering Centres (SDCs), strategically located across the province.
- collection and transportation of Sludge Cake from SDCs for incineration
- discharging collected WwTW liquid sludge through the SLS
- collection, transportation and discharge of liquid sludge between WTWs for de-watering
- collection and dewatering of WTW liquid sludge and final disposal in the event of a plant failure; any other liquid sludge transport related services
Initial contract term is 4 years with further extension options available.
