United Utilities tenders £800 million AMP8 Works framework contract for Minor Works

United Utilities has gone out to tender with a major AMP8 Works Framework contract for Minor Works worth an estimated £800 million.

UNITED UTILITIES AMP8 BUSINESS PLAN - COVER

The water company’s investment plan for the AMP8 and AMP9 periods has adopted a delivery model formed of 5 distinct delivery runways.

The scope of the procurement covers the Minor Works element of the Build-Only delivery runway – the contract is beimg tendered is in 2 separate Lots. The works will cover the construction of assets in the following categories:

Lot 1 - Civils Construction £560 million (20 awards)

Lot 2 - Mechanical & Electrical Installation £240 million (10 awards)

United Utilities will award up to 30 framework agreements in total with projects awarded via NEC4 based call-off contracts. The number of projects awarded will be subject to AMP8 requirements and dependent on the size, type and geography of the final agreed programme for AMP8, and beyond.

Scope of work under Lots 1 and 2 covers water treatment and network pipelines, waste water treatment and network pipelines, bioresources, CSOs, pumping stations and storage.

Work types United Utilities envisage will form part of the Lot 1 Civils Construction works include:

  • Sludge treatment digesters and tanks
  • Chemical Dosing Rigs
  • Primary, secondary & tertiary wastewater treatment process
  •  Gas systems
  • CSO chamber installations & pump return
  • Sewer/Large Diameter Trunk Mains upsizing and installations
  • Buried pipework
  • Demolition
  • Fish Passages
  • Pre-fabricated tanks
  • Concrete in-situ tank installations
  • Media Changes
  • Boreholes
  • Access Roads and Site Facilities
  • Other construction works

 

Work types United Utilities envisage will form part of the Lot 2 Mechanical & Electrical Installation works include:

  • Sludge treatment, digestion, handling and pumping
  • CHP Engines
  • Chemical Dosing Rigs
  • Pumps and pumping systems
  • Primary, secondary & tertiary wastewater treatment process
  • Instrumentation and alarms
  • Safety Instrumented Systems
  • Above-ground pipework
  • Valves and actuators
  • Pressure vessels and boilers
  • Heat exchangers
  • Gas systems including storage, consumers, pipework and ancillaries
  • Equipment and protective systems for use in explosive atmospheres
  • CSO chamber installations & pump return
  • Screen & weir installations
  • MEICA Installation and commissioning
  • Other M&E Installation works.

 

Initial contract term is 6 years with further extension options for one or more further periods of up to 5 years in total, up to a longstop date of 31 March 2035.
