Caledonian Maritime Assets Ltd tenders ground investigations contract for Gasay Ferry Terminal Redevelopment

Caledonian Maritime Assets Ltd (CMAL) is tenderinga contract for a marine survey and marine and land-based ground investigations for the Small Vessel Replacement Programme (SVRP) enabling works and Gasay Ferry Terminal Redevelopment.ground investigations.

GASAY FERRY TERMINAL DEVELOPMENT TIMELINE

CMAL is looking to appoint a sole supplier to the contract, which is being tendered in two separate Lots.

Interested suppliers are required to bid for both Lots.

CMAL propose to upgrade 8 ports in the West of Scotland to accommodate electrically powered pedestrian/vehicle ferries. Short roll-on roll-off (ro-ro) crossings between mainland and Islands operate between these ports, using relatively small vessels, which require associated infrastructure.

Ground investigations are required at 5 of the ports in order to characterise the ground conditions for dredging design at two locations, and for foundation design for new aligning structures at three other locations. New sub-stations and cabling works will be required at all sites.

The purpose of the main works is to undertake a marine survey and marine and land ground

investigations to develop a replacement berth and ferry terminal. Scope of the contract covers the gathering of information that will allow for development of an outline design as well as a detailed design of the main works proposed. This information will be gathered through marine and land Ground Investigations (GI) within the study area, which will be targeted to address the geotechnical and geo-environmental constraints, along with their potential impact on the works proposed.
