Affinity Water has made a direct contract award for a water meter data management solution worth an estimated £192,000 (inc VAT).
The water company currently requires the continued service of a hosted, cloud-based solution to capture data from its existing fleet of non-smart meters.
However, over the next ten years, the need for the non-smart meter data capture solution willdecline significantly, in line with the increasing rollout of smart meters.
As part of its smart metering programme, Affinity Water will be utilising a different system for capturing data from smart meters. The contract for this new system has already been awarded following a UCR tender process.
The contract for the data capture of non-smart meter reads has been awarded Itron Metering Solutions UK Ltd. Earliest date the contract will be signed is 1 December 2025
Current estimated start and end contract dates are 1 January 2026 to 31 December 2031 with a further possible extension option to 31 December 2036. If the system is still being used, to a small extent, after five years, the company can extend the agreement until the requirement reduces to nil.
Affinity Ward said it has made the award to Itron as a single supplier for technical reasons. The award is for repeat services relating the the data capture of non-smart water meter reads, where it is critical that the solution is compatible with the current configuration of Affinity Water's metering technology.
