Galliford Try Alliance finalises £600M Scottish infrastructure contract

A consortium comprising Galliford Try Investments Ltd, Equitix Holdings Ltd, Kier Projects Investments Ltd and John Graham Holdings Ltd, has reached financial close on the South West Scotland hub initiative to deliver £600 million of public sector infrastructure projects over the next ten years.

The deal follows the appointment of Alliance Community Partnerships as preferred bidder to the project back in August.

The South West Scotland hub will cover Ayrshire, Dumfries & Galloway and Lanarkshire and many future infrastructure and community projects across these territories will be delivered through a joint venture company to be formed between the 16 public sector bodies involved and Alliance Community Partnerships.

The hub initiative is intended to deliver an effective development model, allowing the private sector development partner to work with the public sector bodies across all stages from strategic planning through funding and project delivery, to facilities management via an integrated supply chain. Every hub project will be committed to providing opportunities for Scottish businesses and the local supply chain.

Greg Fitzgerald, Chief Executive of Galliford Try, commented:

"Along with our partners, we are delighted to have reached an agreement on this significant partnership with the South West hub Territory Partnering Board in Scotland. This appointment has been achieved by us demonstrating the combined skills of Galliford Try's construction, facilities management and investments teams. These skills enable us to develop, deliver, fund and manage major public sector schemes in a collaborative manner. We recognise the important economic benefits which hub will bring and we look forward to working with our partners on their exciting pipeline of projects."

Galliford Try is already a leading Tier 1 contractor in the UK water sector. Its construction business carries out building and infrastructure work across the UK with clients ranging from major Government departments through to the regulated utilities and private sector companies. At the end of the last financial year to 30 June 2012, the Group generated revenues of £1.5 billion.
