Skanska JV to hold Tideway Tunnel supplier engagement briefing

The Skanska /Razel Bec Cleaner Thames Joint Venture, which is currently tendering for the central main works contract on Thames Tideway Tunnel are inviting local and SME businesses to apply to attend a supply chain breakfast briefing in London on 1st August 2014.

The central contract, worth between £600m  to£950m, will require the construction of one main drive site and works surrounding eight combined sewer overflow (CSO) sites.

The briefing will give suppliers a chance to hear more about the project, network with key decision makers and find out where to source relevant supply chain opportunities.

Companies interested in attending the briefing should apply via the Competefor portal  and not contact the buying organisation directly - they will not be able to answer any direct telephone or email enquiries. CompeteFor is a free service that enables businesses to compete for contract opportunities within the supply chains (Supply Chain Opportunities) of major public and private sector buying organisations and major capital infrastructure projects.

The JV is looking for sub contractors  / suppliers to attend the event - predominantly SME companies -  to understand the full scope of the project and to advise suppliers on where they can source and respond to relevant contract opportunities that will become available in the future. Full details of the 'Supplier Engagement Breakfast Briefing' will be provided to successfully short-listed suppliers.

The opportunity has been published on the CompeteFor portal  in order to identify a suitable delegate audience for the upcoming briefing. Once all responses are received, the JV will assess them and then send out invitations to successful companies to attend the event.

The Briefing will have several keynote speakers, who will deliver presentations on the complexity of the project, along with the route to which the JV will engage with the supplier community. The key objectives of the Briefing will be to:

  • Identify new and potential suppliers
  • Provide a networking opportunity to SME suppliers and The Cleaner Thames JV Buyers
  • Enable and build the capacity of the supply base to respond successfully to CompeteFor contract/sub-contract opportunities
  • Provide visibility to The Cleaner Thames JV of suppliers, specifically SMEs

Interested companies should visit www.competefor.com and register in order to apply to attend.
