Ofwat has confirmed that, following consultation, it will allow two small water supply companies to increase the limits on the prices they can charge their customers – but by less than the companies wanted.

Ofwat has terminated Mid Kent Water's appointment as a water service provider.

A blueprint to help to deliver improved protection for people and property nationally, from coastal flooding and erosion was set out yesterday by Phil Woolas, Minister for Climate Change and Flooding.

Ofwat has published this year’s relative efficiency assessments for 2006-07 for the water companies.

The merger of South East Water and Mid Kent Water looks set to take place later this month, subject to final regulatory clearance. The merger  of the two water companies will create the second-largest water supply company in England and Wales.

Ofwat has published its forward programme for the period 2008-09 to 2010-11 in draft format for consultation.

The new directive on flood risk management aimed at reducing the risks and adverse consequences of floods in the European Union has now come into force.

The Consumer Council for Water has challenged Bristol Water’s bid to further increase its prices for the next two years.

Ofwat has started its consultation on the information it intends to collect from the water companies to support the 2009 price review.
