Brexit: Lords to question experts over impact on UK energy and climate change policy

The House of Lords EU Sub-Committee on Energy and Environment will this week question experts from UCL and Chatham House about the possible impact of Brexit on EU and UK energy and climate change policy.

The session will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday 13 July in Committee Room 2 of the House of Lords. Professor Michael Grubb, Professor of International Energy and Climate Change Policy, UCL and Antony Froggatt, Senior Research Fellow, Chatham House will give evidence to the Committee.

Areas the session will cover include:

  • What will be the main short and long term impact of Brexit on UK and post-Brexit EU energy and climate change policy?
  • What EU laws and requirements regarding energy and climate change will the UK continue to be bound by post Brexit?
  • What should the UK’s priorities for energy and climate change in the Brexit negotiations be?
  • How dependent is the UK on energy imports and what impact might Brexit have on the security of supply and the UK energy mix?
  • What does Brexit mean for the UK’s role in future climate change diplomacy?

Waterbriefing will host the session live via the Watch channel on Wednesday at 11.00am.
