Glyn Rhonwy pumped hydtoThe developer of the proposed Glyn Rhonwy pumped hydro electricity storage scheme near Llanberis, Snowdonia Pumped Hydro (SPH),  has been granted planning permission for an underground grid connection for the facility.

United Utilities has discontinued the procurement process for construction work at its Ellesmere Port wastewater treatment works worth up to £35 million.

Ofwat has launched a short consultation on its proposal for a revised application process for Water Supply and Sewerage Licences (WSSL).

Ofwat has launched a new consultation on changes to legislation which require the regulator to issue codes covering the agreements water and sewerage companies enter into in order to adopt infrastructure for new connections provided by other parties.

Market Operator Services Ltd (MOSL) the organisation responsible for delivering the operational capability needed when the retail market opens in April 2017, has confirmed that the remaining companies have completed their final data uploads into the central market operating system (CMOS) and that the shadow market phase has now begun.

The water industry must raise its game to ensure the success of the English non-domestic water market when it opens to competition next April, according to Jo Dow, Chief Executive of Business Stream, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Scottish Water.

Water industry regulator Ofwat has granted the first 20 Water and Sewerage Supply (WSSL) licences ahead of the business retail market opening for competition in April 2017.
