Severn Trent Water has said it will compensate all 3,700 customers, both domestic and business, who were directly affected for an extended period of time by loss of their water supply as a result of Friday's over-chlorination incident.

Northumbrian Water is on the hunt for renewable energy partners – the water company has gone out to tender with a contract for partners who will secure 100 % of the required funding and then deliver renewable energy solutions for its sites.

Aberdeenshire Council has revealed that the estimated list of work needed for flood repairs resulting from Storms Desmond and Frank in December so far totals around £7.6 million.

A recent high-level event which took place at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office’s Lancaster House last month could see the way forward to the possibilities of greater technology and water resource sharing in the water-stressed Middle East – with Israel serving as a model to address global water challenges.

In a case brought by the Environment Agency,  Thames Water has been fined £380,000 for polluting a rural stream  at its  Princes Risborough sewage treatment works (STW)site attributed to “lamentable” management failures.
