RIVER THAMES FLOOD SCHEME KEY FEATURES 1The Environment Agency has moved a step closer to submitting the planning application for the £450 million-plus River Thames flood defence scheme with the completion of the final outline design.

s300 Keadby OBC picA contract to design and build an improved £35 million flood defence scheme on the Isle of Axholme has been awarded to GBV, a joint venture between Galliford Try and Black & Veatch.

A new website has been set up by the Living with Water Partnership to give residents the chance to help protect against flooding in Hull.

IMAGE - IPSWICH FLOOD DEFENCE SCHEMEThe Environment Agency has published a new economic assessment to aid planning for flooding and coastal risk management over the next 50 years which says an annual average investment of £1 billion-plus is needed between now and 2065.

 

Construction work is set to start on coastal risk management works as part of a £150 million programme of investment over three years across Wales.

The Leeds Flood Alleviation Scheme’s natural flood management project is using a team of horses to help move very large trees around the Harden Beck site to construct leaky dams.

The Environment Agency is holding two public events this month to set out its proposals for the second phase of the £122 million Leeds Flood Alleviation Scheme.
