WICS DRAFT DETERMINATION 1The Water Industry Commission for Scotland (WICS) has published its draft determination on the prices Scottish Water will be allowed to charge customers for its upcoming 2021-27 investment programme.

The Water Industry Commission for Scotland has said that that insufficient attention has been paid by both the regulator and Scottish Water to futureproofing levels of service  and that the water company will need to do  more work on maintaining long-term assets.

Water competition comes to Scotland

Scottish Water's right to monopolise the market ended yesterday with more than 100,000 businesses and public bodies, such as local authorities, hospitals, schools etc. now free to choose from whom they buy their water and sewerage services, in a radical move that is being hailed as a world first for the water sector.

According to the Water Industry Commission for Scotland(WICS), as water companies in England and Wales inform Ofwat of planned rises in bills either at or above the rate of inflation, Scotland is bucking the trend.

The Water Industry Commission for Scotland (WICS), the economic regulator for Scottish Water, has issued its annual report for 2007-8.
