WRC seeks more partners in Gamify project for water sector

WRc is piloting gamification as a means of driving water efficiency in a number of key  target areas.

Gamification involves the use of game thinking and game mechanics in non-game contexts to engage users in solving problems. Potential applications include improved user engagement.

The potential to transform the relationship between utility and customer is huge – cutting across many areas of business from billing and debt through to proactive feedback on business plans to changing disposal habits of Fats, Oil and Grease (FOG).

Over the next 18 months the project will carefully review the application of gamification and take the partners through a journey of defining the business objective, targeting behaviours to achieve, describing the players, looking at motivation for the activities and most importantly, making the process fun for customers.

WRc is looking for other companies to join the collaboration and benefit from the shared learning and ability to reach customers on a new and sustained level. They are also keen to hear from anyone with case studies or examples of successful gamification from across the utilities sector or relevant products and services.
