Future Water, the business support organisation for the UK water sector and the supply chain, is inviting the wider water sector supply chain to contribute to the new Future Water Report Card which provides an independent view of sector performance.
Now covering even more of the sector, the refreshed version of the Report Card builds on from the success of the first version and expands its scope to reflect the complexity and challenge facing the industry.
The Report Card was born from Networks November, a month of events and engagement that brought together voices from across the water sector. With input from over 100 stakeholders, it offered an academic-style A*–F grading across eight key areas, from leakage and innovation to asset health and skills—capturing a snapshot of the sector’s strengths, gaps, and opportunities.
The next phase isn’t simply about updating grades – it’s also about sharpening collective understanding, broadening the conversation and building a shared, credible platform for change.
With the addition of new categories, the Report Card will not only track progress but help the sector anticipate risk, spark collaboration, and shape future priorities.
The Report Card is being updated and will now include more categories to grade and comment on key areas of performance:
- Drinking water quality
- Development Services
- Cyber
- Leakage (network)
- Leakage (customer side)
- Asset health
- Metering
- Research
- People
- Sewers
- CSOs
- Innovation
Future Water is now inviting both members and non-members alike working across the water sector to contribute to the Report Card via an online survey which assesses the current status of each area and suggests an individual performance grade. Respondents can either agree or suggest their own grade, and also submit their own more detailed comments.
Future Water said:
“By contributing your perspective, you’ll be playing a vital role in shaping a sector-wide tool that informs decisions, challenges the status quo, and supports long-term resilience and improvement.”
Deadline to to contribute is Friday 25 July – click here to access the Report Card survey online.
