CDP to launch Water Disclosure 2012 global report

The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) Global Water Forum will launch the release of the CDP Water Disclosure 2012 global report and corporate responses in New York next week.

More than 640 companies worldwide were invited to respond to the CDP's information request on water issues specific to their organisation. The CDP Global Water Forum has a specific focus on demonstrating how companies are exposed to water-related risks and why water stewardship should be at the heart of every business’ strategy.

The event will highlight how global businesses are creating long-term strategic value by sharing risk and engaging stakeholders to manage a valuable shared resource. Attendees will also find out more about how companies are performing on risk mitigation, capitalizing on opportunities to increase brand value and building resilient businesses for the future.

The CDP is also hosting a live webcast of the event, which will present key findings from the 2012 Report  - click here to register in advance.

It will be interesting to see what has changed in 2012 - this year a total of 646 companies were invited to take part. Global 500 companies responding to CDP Water in 2011 collectively reported that 66% of their supply chain-related water risks have the potential to impact business within five years. Despite this, only 26% of companies were actively monitoring water-related risks in their supply chain by requiring key suppliers to report water use, risks, and management plans.
