The West Country Water and Environment regional group has launched its public consultation on a proposal for the Cheddar 2 Reservoir and Transfer Project – the new reservoir and pipeline will play a pivotal role in creating a sustainable and resilient water supply for over 100,000 people in the West Country.

Severn Trent has further extended the deadline for preliminary market engagement with the supply chain from 1 August to 7 September 2025 to establish the feasibility of the market for the £200 million Minworth Strategic Resource Option (SRO).

Ofwat has agreed that the proposed Havant Thicket Reservoir solution should continue to receive development funding to progress to gate four of the RAPID process – despite significant concerns raised by a wide range of stakeholders following the water sector regulator’s draft decision published on 12 November 2024.

Ofwat has expanded the Approach to the RAPID programme and gated process for PR24, enabling more solutions to join.
