A new discussion paper published by the research and innovation arm of the UK Water Partnership has flagged up fundamental challenges the UK needs to address as a matter of priority to develop-water resilient cities and highlighted key areas where further research is needed.

The Met Office and the  World Bank Group signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in Washington DC last week to signal their shared purpose to support developing countries to address climate change.

A detailed picture of European weather patterns over the past decades is now emerging thanks to an EU-funded project to re-analyse historical records. The results will help EU nations plan for climate change and and extreme weather in coming decades.

Onshore and offshore exploration company Third Energy has applied to the Environment Agency  for permits to frack in North Yorkshire.

Rising temperatures in mountain regions could have a significant impact on ecosystems, societies and economies around the world over the coming decades, according to EU-funded researchers who led a landmark study into the effects of climate change on mountain water resources.
