Landia chopper pumps mean no downtime at Pickstock Ashby

Tough, sturdy Chopper Pumps made by Landia have helped enhance productivity at one of the UK’s leading national and international suppliers of top quality beef products for the retail, commercial and food-service markets.

Two of Landia’s DGI Chopper Pumps are in continual operation at Pickstock Ashby in South Derbyshire, UK, where previous equipment often had to be taken out of service around every two hours because of blockages.

Landia_1_copyOne of the 5.5kW Landia units is utilised to transfer blood, but also has to cope with pieces of bone, hair and plastic tags that can enter the wastewater stream.  The other Landia DGI handles slurry, and again has to deal with a degree of solids that would usually bring less well-made pumps to a standstill.

Martin Healey, Maintenance Manager at Pickstock Ashby, commented:  “The Landia equipment has been a considerable improvement on the pumps we used to have, which needed almost constant attention.  We also get good back-up from Landia who understand our needs and the importance of minimal downtime at our operation, where we process in excess of 1500 cattle per week”.
