The awards recognise the great work of both Anglian Water employees and suppliers throughout the year in helping the utility maintain the best possible customer service.
The coveted Frontier Performance nomination was made for reducing the carbon footprint of nitrate removal by 22% and salt usage by 25% through optimising the company’s critical Nitreat® treatment processes.
This remarkable achievement was the outcome of Anglian Water’s Nitrates Incentives scheme, in which a range of parameters at the utility’s Nitreat® nitrate removal plants were carefully altered to increase the efficiency of their day-to-day operation.
Achieving this meant leveraging ACWA’s extensive know-how, gained through installing the highly-reliable and robust Nitreat® systems at key Anglian Water sites.
The Optimisation Team, which consisted of Anglian Water staff with input from ACWA, also undertook research to ensure that modifications to operational parameters would deliver the desired results and reduce salt usage.
Finalists attended Anglian Water’s charity golf day at Belton Woods Hotel on 3 July, with proceeds being donated to WaterAid.
ACWA Sales Manager Bob Hastings said:
“Being a finalist is a tremendous accolade for the company, and a great recognition of our work which is very much appreciated by the whole company. We now have 15 highly successful Nitreat® installations in the Anglian Water region and look forward to helping the Company drive through further innovations in future.”
