The Environment Agency discusses the Shoreham tidal flood defence scheme scheme following completion of the £32 million project.
The Shoreham Adur Tidal Walls scheme in the town of Shoreham-by-Sea, West Sussex covers 7.2 km of the river Adur. 1.8 km on the east bank between Coronation Green and the A27 Road Bridge, and 5.4 km on the west bank between the river mouth and the A27 road bridge.
The frontage is divided into seven reaches on the west bank (W1 to W7) and three reaches on the east bank (E1 to E3). The scheme is designed to reduce the risk of flooding to over 2500 properties in Shoreham and east Lancing.
Construction on the scheme was completed in March 2019 by Team Van Ord on behalf of the Environment Agency.
