South Staffs Water is the latest water company to announce that it has accepted Ofwat’s Final Determination on its AMP6 Business Plan.
On 12 December 2014, Ofwat published its final determination for South Staffs Water (incorporating Cambridge Water) for the period covering 1 April 2015 to 31 March 2020.
In a statement, the company said:
“We have carefully considered this and the challenges it presents. On balance we have decided that it is in our customers’ best interests to wholly devote our focus to delivering the required performance set before us by the final determination.”
South Staffs said that with this in mind it had written to Ofwat and informed the regulator that it would not be referring the final determination to the Competition and Markets Authority for review.
With the UK government demanding a 50% reduction in storm overflow spills by 2029, the era of reactive management is over.
