Scottish Water has completed a major £3.8m upgrade to almost 50 miles of water mains across Falkirk and Grangemouth.
The work, to improve the mains in parts of the Falkirk, Grangemouth, Stenhousemuir, Camelon and Carronshore areas was carried out for Scottish Water by contractors Farrans and started in February 2013.
The project involved a mixture of installing plastic lining on about 17 miles of stretches of mains, swabbing and flushing of about 31 miles of pipes and a small amount of pipe replacement.
Jim Hassan, Scottish Water’s water operations manager, said:
“Scottish Water is delighted to have completed this massive investment in our network of water mains in parts of the Falkirk and Grangemouth area.
“The investment is delivering many benefits to our customers in towns and villages across the area - the main one being clearer, fresher drinking water.
“The upgrade in the network of mains and pipes will help ensure a first class supply of drinking water straight to customers’ taps for many years to come.”
