Water UK, the organisation which represents the UK water companies at national and EU level, has appointed Michael Roberts, currently Chief Executive of the Association of Train Operating Companies and Director-General of the Rail Delivery Group, as its next Chief Executive.
Roberts previously held senior roles at the CBI working on policy development across a range of sectors including the environment, energy and transport. He has also served as a Non-Executive Director of the Carbon Trust.
Commenting on his appointment, Michael Roberts said;
"I am delighted to be joining a sector where the hard work of so many people makes such an essential contribution to our way of life."

Reporting to Chairman Sir Brian Bender, he will take up the role no later than 1 January 2016, succeeding Pamela Taylor, who is stepping down at the end of 2015.
Sir Brian Bender added:
"The water industry is going through a period of significant change. Michael's experience in other trade associations, in working in regulated sectors and in policy development will be invaluable as our members and stakeholders adapt to increasing competition".
