Severn Trent to build new £5m service reservoir in Nottinghamshire

Midlands water and waste company Severn Trent has announced it is investing £5 million to build a new service reservoir in Nottinghamshire.

When completed in early 2020, the concrete reservoir will be able to store around 13 million litres of treated water and make supplies that much more resilient for over 30,000 customers.

Severn Trent’s Richard Evans, who is managing the project, said:

“Service reservoirs are the unsung heroes of our business – they hold millions of litres of treated water to ensure our customers have our wonderful water whenever they need it but hardly anyone knows that they’re there.

“It’s important to us that, once we finish building it, the new reservoir will merge into the landscape and just quietly get on with the job that it’s designed to do without local people having to think about it.”

“As the local population continues to grow, we decided that now was the right time to upgrade the Diamond Avenue site to provide a far more resilient water supply that we can easily maintain. It’s all about us making sure our supply is fit for the future.”
